How are Filipinos reacting to the current American financial crisis?
Q. We can't get Philippine TV and radio in our country -- how are these media reacting? Are there analysis on the consequences for the Philippines or Filipinos working in the US? How about in the universities -- do people care? And the man in the street -- does he care at all? Since the world economy is tied to the US economy, I think this has a consequence to Filipinos, as much as the outcome of the US elections in November.

A. I think some Filipinos will not bother as it doesn't make any difference in their daily living or has no changes at all but some or more Filipinos will react, especially the Philippine government because remittance plays an increasing large role in the economy . Also the export goods, the profit value will lessen. How about the Filipino overseas workers, illegal workers, the migrants etc.. who send money transfer in Philippines. The dollar rate is falling means lower remittance. Remittances contribute to the livelihoods. Moreover, remittance transfers can also promote access to financial services for the sender and recipient Money sent home by migrants and workers constitutes the second largest financial inflow to Philippines,… [cont.]

A. we also eat using spoons and forks and people here eat at our house, but if we're in school, we eat at the canteen, if we're just outside there are carinderias, fastfood restuarants if we don't eat at our house, we eat at sm, greenhills, robinsons, tomas morato-there are many restaurants there. we prefer food that's kind of sweet like when you eat spaghetti filipino style or when you order a cheeseburger yum at jollibee(it's a popular fastfood chain here in the philippines) we also prefer food that's pasta, pizza, chinese food, japanese food, burgers we go to diff. fastfood chains like jollibee, mcdonalds, kfc, pizza hut, sbarro, kenny rogers, yellow cab, shakeys, max's restaurant, etc. Chinese food is popular here bec. there are diff.… [cont.]
