How do I write a algebraic equation that incorporates r, h, and d?
Q. A figure shows that a person standing h feet above sea level can see d miles to the horizon. The distance r is the radius of the Earth. Although the Earth is not perfectly spherical, many scientists consider the value r = 3963 miles to be a reasonable approximation. Write an algebraic equation that incorporates r, h, and d.

A. Hard to describe here, but, you get a right triangle of the following: r + h, d and r r + h is the hypotenuse, r is the vertical leg and d is the horizontal leg. So you'd generally have a + b = c In this case you have: r + d = ( r + h ) hth
